Turna Hotel

The family, the street, the rooms

Meet the family behind Turna Hotel, get to know our neighbourhood in Küçük Ayasofya and take a closer look at the rooms before you arrive.

The story behind Turna Hotel

Turna Hotel is independently run by our family. We take care of the rooms ourselves, welcome our guests in person and are always here to answer your questions throughout your stay.

The hotel takes its name from the turna, the crane that travels great distances yet always finds its way back to the same resting place. It felt like the right name for a hotel welcoming travellers from around the world, in a city that has been doing the same for centuries.

Our hospitality is simple and personal. We are always happy to recommend a local place to eat, help you plan your way around the city or answer any questions that might make your stay a little easier.

Now that you've met the family behind Turna Hotel, let us introduce you to the street we call home.

In the heart of historic Istanbul

Some of Istanbul's most iconic landmarks are just a short walk from Turna Hotel. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace are all nearby, while our location in Küçük Ayasofya offers a quieter place to stay, just five minutes from the heart of Sultanahmet.

The Neighbourhood

Around Little Hagia Sophia

Set beside Little Hagia Sophia, Turna Hotel is surrounded by the narrow streets and everyday rhythm of one of Istanbul's oldest neighbourhoods. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace are all within easy walking distance, while the Sea of Marmara is only a short walk away.

The Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace are close enough to walk to as well — same historic quarter, a few streets over, not a taxi ride.

The street itself

Küçük Ayasofya is as much a working neighbourhood as a historic one — small tea houses, family-run shops, and the mosque the street is named after, all a short walk from the water. By evening it sounds less like a coach tour and more like the call to prayer and the gulls coming off the Marmara.

That's the neighbourhood. Now, the eight rooms you'd actually be staying in.
